VOTE for your favorite painted Gingerbread Sculpture -- "Art"!

December 4, 2013

Have you seen "Art" downtown Naperville?  Art is the name of the  Century Walk sponsored Gingerbread man which was painted by Naperville artist Marianne Lisson Kuhn.  The public art installment, one of 25 decorated Gingerbread Men sculptures promoted by the the Downtown Naperville Alliance, can be seen on Main Street in front of The Gap store at the opening to Ruben's Way.  Ruben's way is the alleyway featuring two Century Walk murals: The Parade of the Century and Everyone Loves a Parade.

The Gingerbread man sculpture, Art, features scenes from a mix of Century Walk public art installments including The Cat in the Hat, Heartland Harvest, Dick Tracy, World's Greatest Artists, and Naperville Loves a Parade.  The sculpture also depicts artists' tools, scenes of gingerbread men artists creating masterpieces, and a stack of coffeetable art books including "Century Walk: Art Imitating History" by Jini Leeds Claire.

Unveiled as part of the Downtown Naperville Alliance's holiday lights celebration on Friday, November 8th, the gingerbread men will be on display until mid January.  A map of the gingerbread sculptures can be found here.  Vote for your favorite gingerbread man sculpture online at www.downtownnaperville.com/gingerbread.  Voting ends December 31 -- one vote per email address is allowed.  Results will be announced in early January.
