  • Plaque Text: Established in 1979, the Naperville Area Humane Society was the vision of Ardis Mccallion. Along with founding member Cleo Keller who was cut from the same farm-girl cloth and a small group of volunteers, Mccallion began the nonprofit initiative to rescue and care for homeless pets. Today NAHS continues to serve Naperville and beyond as a temporary home to thousands of cats and dogs waiting to find forever homes. It is dedicated toward educating the community on compassion as well as the importance of the human-animal bond. Through a variety of educational programs for adults and children, NAHS is devoted toward making a positive difference and this sculpture stands as a symbol of the "paw print" the founders and all friends of the Naperville Area Humane Society have left on our community.
